In 20__, I began working in the merchant services industry and quickly became frustrated with how long it took to close deals. At that time, the only value we could offer merchants was a discount on the fees they were paying to their bank—sometimes substantial, other times not. Feeling limited, I left the industry and transitioned into venture capital fundraising, working with small-cap public companies on marketing and successfully raising several million dollars.
In 20__, I started an auto warranty business, which I ran for several years, employing over 30 people, until the market became saturated. During that time, I realized that residual income was the true path to financial freedom. In most businesses, you constantly have to generate new sales and clients—no new clients means no revenue. What I longed for was a business that could generate consistent income month after month, long after the initial work was done.
